A message from Dr. Harold Lee,
Executive Director of the BCBLC
Welcome to the Bradford-Cleveland-Brooks Leadership Center web site. The Center is named in honor of and dedicated to three outstanding servant leaders—Elders Charles E. Bradford, Edward E. Cleveland and Charles D. Brooks.
The purpose of the center is to put forth a vision of the church as a lifelong learning community for clergy and non-clergy. Universally, the church as a learning community includes all those members of the body of Christ engaged in mission and ministry historically and globally. Locally, the church’s attention moves outside the doors of the building into its mission in the world. Contemporary culture is the context in which the community of faith is called to live, bear witness, and serve.
Today, secularism and technology challenge Christian faith and leadership with profound questions. How will the church better understand its missional responsibility to a diverse culture in crisis? How will we affirm or nurture the emerging church? What is the new vision for leadership in this era of moral flux? Leading like Jesus is the only answer for families, communities and churches.
The mission of the Center is to present current and future church leaders with Christian leadership models for ministry. Continuing education opportunities are accessible for clergy and non-clergy. Such enablement and empowerment will help the church fulfill its global mission, values, and vision by providing essential tools and creative methods for ministry. In-service education is designed to address cultural, ethnic, and generational diversity issues facing the church.
The Bradford-Cleveland-Brooks Leadership Center offers a menu of online seminars, webinars and special events designed to enhance skills in leadership, administration, management coaching, governance, mentoring, congregational and organization assessment, the art and craft of preaching, media ministry presented in the present day cultural context. Participants interact with trained presenters as they develop leadership skills for ministry and mission.
